How does embossed taping and adhesive taping differs?

Latest Updated:04/01/2007

Question:

The taping specification includes embossed taping and adhesive taping. How do these differ?

Answer:

In the case of embossed taping, a chip is placed in each depression in the carrier tape, and the tape is then covered with a film (cover tape).
In the case of adhesive taping, each chip is fixed to the tape by the adhesive on the tape, and the chips are exposed.
Adhesive taping used to be employed for some small packages, but it is no longer in use for current products.
