How to get correct reference to the content of the external address?

Latest Updated:04/02/2015

Question:

I am using High-performance Embedded Workshop with the E1 (or E20) to debug projects for RX-family MCUs. However, I am not able to get a correct reference to the contents of the external address space in the memory window.

Answer:

In reference to an external address space, the operating mode of the microcontroller must be set for the connection of a debugging tool.
Set [Register Setting] as [On-chip ROM enabled extended mode] or [On-chip ROM disabled extended mode] in the [Operating Mode] category in the [Startup and Communication] tabbed page of the [Initial Settings] dialog box.
For correct access to the external address space, set the bus controller of the MCU so that the external address space is accessible.
