What happens if VIN gets close to VOUT on a 3 terminal regulator continuously?

Latest Updated:11/01/2006

What will happen if the 3-terminal regulator is continuously used with VIN lower than the recommended condition?

If the output voltage almost equals the input voltage, the electrical specifications and the operation of the protection circuits are not guaranteed. When a 3-terminal low dropout regulator is used, a high circuit current flows and the temperature rises if VIN is lower than the regulation start voltage.
