What is overdrive of a comparator?

Overdrive is a condition that applies when the comparator's transmission characteristics are being measured, and is expressed as a differential input voltage that indicates to what extent the input voltage will be changed excessively when the input voltage exceeds the reference voltage.

Take care when designing your device because the output delay time differs depending on the overdrive amount. It is also important to align all the conditions concerning the overdrive amount when comparing characteristics.
